Come and stay at Lane Head Barns in one of our Peak District award winning self catering holiday cottages. Our two cottages are recently renovated barn conversions and enjoy far reaching views of the Peak District. Book both properties and have exclusive use of two self-catering holiday cottages for up to 12 adults plus 3 infants. Walk, cycle, explore then gather together to dine and relax around the wood burners.

 

Peak District group accommodation

 

Morridge View, our five bedroom holiday cottage at Lane Head Barns, is ideal for Peak District group accommodation. The cottage sleeps 10 plus 2 infants in five king or double bedrooms with two rooms convertible to twins. Three bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms with one being on the ground floor and suitable for the less able including wheelchair users. A fourth bath / shower room is perfect for family use. Ground floor living space is open plan and ideal for socialising around the large oak dining table or relaxing in the comfy sofas and armchairs next to the wood burner. A terrace with outdoor seating and BBQ leads directly off the living area and provides idyllic views across farmland.

Couple or small family accommodation

 

Mixon View, our one bedroom cottage, sleeps 2 plus an infant with the spacious bedroom and open plan living area both having views across Peak District landscapes. Original features such as exposed stone walling have been retained in the interior and the entire cottage has been fitted out to a high standard with solid oak feature staircase and Morso wood burner. The living area leads directly onto a terrace with outdoor seating, BBQ and views toward the hamlet of Mixon.

 

Friends and families

 

Lane Head Barns offers a perfect secluded location for friends and families to get away from it all in the Peak District National Park. Our cottages and location are ideal for family gatherings, celebrations and reunions in Morridge View or both properties. Alternately just book Mixon View cottage for a romantic rural hideaway for two.

Peak District and local area

 

Lane Head Barns is in the South West of the Peak District National Park and centrally located in England so easily accessible from north, south, east and west. Recently voted the 4th best national park in the world,  the area offers amazing rural landscapes with countryside walks, cycle trails, historical houses, canal walks, restored railways and quaint country villages.

 

Walking and cycling

 

There is an extensive footpath network across the Peak District ranging from easy strolls to adventurous hikes. Head out on footpaths direct from Lane Head Barns, or a short drive will take you to famous spots like the stepping stones at Dovedale, the Manifold Valley including Thor’s cave, the Roaches and the Monsal Trail. There are also hidden gems where you can walk for hours away from the crowds.

The Peak District is famous for cycling, with a huge variety of both leisurely trails and more challenging routes with famous climbs, such as Winnats Pass, Cat and Fiddle and Gun Hill. Bring your bikes (we have secure storage) or hire them and discover idyllic landscapes from country lanes or off-road trails.

 

Other activities

 

The Peak Distrtict and local area offers endless outdoor activites. From water sports to caving to handgliding, there’s something for everyone. The Roaches, just a few miles from Lane Head Barns, offers a series of magnificent gritstone crags for rock climbers and to the east there are classic limestone climbs in Dovedale and the Manifold Valley.

There are also pony riding centres and trekking centres for the more experienced if you would like to explore in the saddle.

 

Villages and towns

 

Our local historic market town of Leek offers the choice of supermarkets for convenience or a wealth of independent shops and markets for those who would like to explore and browse. Within half an hour’s drive the traditional market towns of Ashbourne and Bakewell are well worth a visit as is the historic spa town of Buxton. Longnor, Hartington and Castleton are all worth a visit while you are staying.
