About Lane Head Barns

About us

Our village of Onecote is not just in the Peak District National Park but at the heart of a very special part of the Peaks known as the South West Peak – an area of stunning natural beauty, tranquility and heritage.

The 17th century Lane Head Farm is one of the oldest properties in the farming community of Onecote. Peace, tranquility and beautiful landscapes provide the perfect escape from everyday life when you stay at Morridge View or Mixon View; which both sit within the farm’s courtyard.

Onecote

Onecote (pronounced on-cut) is a small, charming village that lies within the Staffordshire Moorlands area of the Peak District National Park, 5 miles from the historic market town of Leek.

The village has an active church (St. Luke’s), excellent pub / restaurant (The Jervis Arms), and busy village hall. Onecote is a short drive from Peak District highlights such as Dovedale, Bakewell, Hartington and the Manifold Valley and to the south is the Churnet Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty and rich heritage.

Farming community

Onecote has always been a farming community and remains so today with many active dairy and sheep farms in and around the village. Lane Head Farm itself comprised around 140 acres in the 19th century but land has gradually been sold to neighbouring farms so that now it is a small holding with just a few acres.

Our neighbours breed sheep so surrounding fields will be full of ewes and lambs if you are with us in late spring and summer.

Kate and Paul Beresford

The Host

The host, Paul Beresford, lives in the farmhouse and is happy to provide advice on exploring the local area if requested.

Paul knows the Peak District well so would love to recommend great places to explore. Paul is also a keen bird watcher and will be pleased to chat about the birds that can be seen around the farm.

Paul is keen to let guests feel that Morridge View and Mixon View are theirs for the duration of their stay, so he leaves guests to themselves unless advice is sought.
